Taco House in Traverse City

They have good food. The tacos don't have much flavor unless you add the taco sauce they offer which makes them really good. They need a better specials menu, they offer hard tacos in the special but not soft. There isn't a big difference so I don't see why we can't get a deal on both.

Always loved this place. Fast, good, and inexpensive. Too bad it's closing at the end of the year.

The food quality was below average. Most of it appeared microwaved or sat under a warmer all day. The order was up very quickly, and the meal wasn't inedible or too expensive. Just tasted like cafeteria food.

So good. Staff work at a quick pace and do a perfect job making the food.

One of my favorite places in town. The tacos are great and low priced. I try and stop in for lunch at least once a week.

It's not that great. Just get the cheap tacos of you're hungry for something that's a single notch better than Taco Bell. Skip the rest of the menu.

I ordered a meal here and got something completely different. I asked for 6 tacos without tomatoes and sour cream and I got all of them with sour cream and one of them didn’t even have cheese on it; it was just meat lettuce and it was drenched in sour cream.

What a disappointment! Fast food with VERY LITTLE if any Mexican flavor! Enchilada Cheese over out of a can used VERY sparingly and thousand Island dressing over lettuce. Since when is that Mexican??? We ordered a variety of items. Nothing worth going back for. Our first visit will be our last visit.

Awesome place, amazing servers, great food! We eat here on average of 1-2 times a week and never had any issues. Their cherry burritos are incredible!!

This was absolutely the worst tacos we've ever had. Seemed to be thrown in microwave and not seasoned whatsoever. Not mad, just disappointed.

This Traverse City icon is closing for good at the end of 2018 do go and get yourself a #9 combo me as l while you still can - or just buy a bag of the apple burrito and cherry burritos. They are addictive! We'll miss The Taco House for sure.

The food was not good. A taco salad was ordered which should have included beans, olives, and NO dressing, my taco salad had what appeared to b liquid cheese was thousand island dressing drowning the salad it was disgusting, the quesadilla that was also ordered was literally 1. 1! 1 freaking tortilla wrapped up wth melted cheese and it was smaller than a crepe. And lastly my burger I ordered, I thought it would be large and fill me up, haha nope! It was size of a slider and tasted like a burger from McDonalds! We left and went to a real taco place, Taco Bell

I am from Oklahoma and when visiting Michigan I really wanted to find a good taco place. I found this one and the reviews were great so I gave it a shot. I was highly dissapointed... they are very expensive for what you end up getting and the food is below standards. I ordered nachos but what I received was a plate of microwaved chips with hard and unsatisfying cheese that was mostly overcooked and stuck to the paper plate I was served it in. The lettuce was brown and the salsa you had to pay extra for was in packets. I don't know if this is normal for Mexican food in Michigan or not but it's definitely not the quality I'm used to.

Just had an excellent meal. The sauce on the chicken wet burrito is amazing. Service was very friendly and fast. Highly recommend!

Simple Mexican fare that's a Traverse City classic. Hurry in, as the owner has announced his retirement and The Taco House is closing for good by December 31, 2018!

This is the place locals know about. It's been in business for as long as I can remember. Over 35 years. The Best place in town to get a taco, the chicken nachos are to die for. Everything on menu is very good. And very affordable. Love this place!!!!!! Beats taco bell by 100%

I have been here a few times and it’s barely a step above Taco Bell, but maybe that’s the appeal as it is the one and only Mexican fast food alternative to Taco Bell in the area! Pretty bland flavors and recipes and not a restaurant I would consider anywhere near authentic Mexican cuisine.

This was probably the cleanest fast food restaurant I've been in. Spotless. The staff was attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was pleasant for a fast food experience. Being a locally owned restaurant, I really wanted to like this place. But I didn't. The food was very bland not even a hint of spiciness. But it was crowded so maybe that's what the people in Traverse City like. The portion sizes were good and the food seemed prepared in a fresh like manner.

I've been going there for over 24 years. I will miss the great food and friendly smiling faces. Really will miss them.

Reminds me exactly of my favorite place to eat as a kid growing up in Lansing in the 70s & 80s; Mr. Taco. Brings back great memories!

I've been going to this joint for 30 yrs. Sure prices have increased, but the quality and taste are consistently good.

Grew up on a steady diet of Taco Meat Burritos with cheese, lettuce, tomato from Taco House. Now the fam makes sure to stop by every time we're in town. Hasn't changed a bit in 30+ years (and that's a good thing).

I have been a fan of taco house for 20 years!The Roma tomatoes are generous portions.The hard shell is very crispy. Every food item is delightful. The staff has no piont of sale computer. All orders are taken with pencil and paper. The order is then told to the back of the house. I like to arrive at Taco house when it is busy and watch the crew working together. I appreciate the atmosphere which allows humans to connect without screens. Keep up the great communication! My order correct every single time!!!

Love taco salad Wednesdays! We moved down state and take every opportunity to eat here when we're in town. It's pretty amazing for fast food.

This place was highly recommened to me but I found it to be very mediocre with disappointing bland food.The level of cleanliness was low and the bathroom was downright disgusting. I didn't appreciate how the manager spoke down to her employees.

Cheap and to the point is what I like about it. Rather fast, but is still good quality food. The hot sauce they have for their tacos is the bomb.

This is one of Traverse City's best kept secrets. The wet burritos are simply amazing! Quality food is the key to this place being around for a very long time. I worked there as a teenager and can honestly say the food is made with love from a family like team.

The Taco House has been around for a long time. It is always clean and serves fresh food. We love to come here and have been for 30+ years. It is locally owned.

been going here since I was a kid, I'm a big fan of their tacos, burritos, nachos, enchiladas, and their apple burritos. everything from here tastes so good you'd think it's homemade! as a local here, this place is so good that it keeps me coming back and you owe it to yourself to give it a try if you ever have some Mexican food craving on the road. they rarely, if ever screw up drive thru orders compared to other fast food places.

This restaurant has been in the Traverse City area since the 90's and is a great spot to eat! The menu option range from mild yet good (the taco salad or regular tacos) to spicy and robust (try the "Green Meat" burrito - spicy green salsa with pork). There are also some dessert options - like the apple or cherry deep-fried burrito. Another recommended item is the chicken tostada - while difficult to eat, it's very good and loaded with toppings. Dine in or Drive through - this is a good and fast restaurant.

This is very good Northern Michigan Tex-Mex food.

Simple fast good tacos/reminder its not you authentic Mexican tacos

Our favorite Mexican restaurant! Delicious food and made to order. I've never had a greasy, drippy meal here like some taco stands. Generous portions, reasonable pricing, fast and friendly service - all in a comfortable and clean restaurant. Even when the parking lot is full and the drive thru is lined up around the building you won't wait long - and trust me, it's worth a wait!

Food was ok. Ok service, paper plates, plastic silverware, foam cups, unusual atmosphere, dirty tables. Water was obviously chlorinated and food was ok. Taco salad was alright, slightly soggy lettuce and meat has soy filler in it. Green chicken enchilada combo was ok. Lots of thousand island sauce and beans were tasteless. Taco combo was ok, bland, tasted like no seasoning was in it. Best part was cherry burrito, but even McDonald's has better food then that. Place appears packed, but just due to small parking lot. Not sure how this place has so many good reviews; probably all the employees rating it big to get a raise. Someone sat down next to us and said their mom came here all the time, I feel sorry for her. Not terrible, but would never recommend it.

This place has been a great place to eat sense I was a child! A lot of childhood memories eating here with my grandma. There is not a bad thing on the menu. Great prices great food!
